Big thanks to our volunteers Floyd Pearson, Dave Roy, Gladys Hoefer, Jerry Muncy, Mary A. Muncy, Jeanine Alexander, and Ken Schwartz for their work last week. Also we owe a huge thank you to our many donors who are helping to make this project possible.
The Dining Hall at the Disciples Center at Tawakoni is the heartbeat of our beautiful space. During the summer season, campers and staff laugh and talk at shared tables, songs are sung after meals, and water bottles are filled up in preparation for the hot day ahead. Other times, the Dining Hall is lit up for wedding receptions, where families and friends celebrate together; still on other occasions, weekend retreats decorate the space to reflect cultural heritage and pride.
While the inside of the building has seen updates and renovations, the outside needs improvement. The paint has faded from the trim, wood paneling has rotted out, and gutters and soffits need replacing. As our facility gains exposure to groups both within our denomination and outside of it, our flagship building needs to reflect the sense of pride we take in providing a beautiful space where people can renew, refresh, and relax.
