In 2022 Church World Service (CWS) and The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) launched a new joint menstrual hygiene kit initiative to provide essential health and dignity products to vulnerable communities across the U.S. It is hard to believe that today, two in five women do not have access to the resources to allow them to have sanitary menstrual hygiene.
From shelters along the border to local resettlement offices across the nation, immigrants and refugees often arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs. The same can be said for families who have been affected by hurricanes and other disasters.
Kansas Disciples Women will be partnering with CWS at the Spring 2024 Spirit Fest events to assemble the Period packs. Our goal is to complete 250 packs during Spirit Fest.
It is a chance to be a blessing to individuals who lack access to necessary feminine care supplies like sanitary napkins, tampons, and soap.
