A Journey Through Holy Week
by Rev Dr David Dubovich
Dear Beloved Community,
As we entered Holy Week this past Sunday, we stepped into the heart of our faith story—a sacred journey that invites us to walk with Jesus through love, betrayal, sacrifice, and ultimately, resurrection hope. This is not just a remembrance of events long past, but an invitation to encounter Christ anew in our lives, our communities, and our world.
A Journey Through the Week
Holy Week began with the celebration of Palm Sunday, where we joined the crowds in shouting “Hosanna!”—welcoming Jesus with hope and expectation. Yet even in this moment of joy, we sense the tension of what is to come.

As the week unfolds, we are drawn into deeper reflection:
- Maundy Thursday calls us to the table, where Jesus shares a final meal with his disciples. Here we remember his commandment to love one another and witness a love expressed through humility and service.
- Good Friday invites us to stand at the foot of the cross. It is a day of sorrow, where we confront the depth of human suffering and the immeasurable love of Christ poured out for the world.
- Holy Saturday holds space for silence and waiting—a reminder that even in uncertainty and grief, God is still at work.
- And then comes Easter Sunday, when the stone is rolled away, and death is overcome by life. Resurrection breaks forth with a promise that hope is never lost, and love is stronger than death.
An Invitation to Participate
Across our region, congregations are preparing meaningful worship experiences, times of prayer, and opportunities for service. Whether through shared meals, contemplative services, or joyful celebration, we are all encouraged to fully engage in this sacred time.
Consider how you might:
- Set aside intentional time for prayer and reflection
- Attend a Holy Week service in your congregation or a neighboring one
- Reach out to someone in need as an act of Christ-like love
- Reflect on where you see signs of resurrection in your own life
A Word of Hope
In a world that often feels uncertain and divided, Holy Week reminds us that God meets us in the deepest places of human experience—and brings forth new life. The cross does not have the final word. Resurrection does.
May this Holy Week draw you closer to the heart of God, renew your spirit, and inspire you to live as people of hope and love.
Grace and peace,
