I hope that this Lenten and Easter season have been a blessing to you all! I look forward to hearing about how it went, and how your lives were changed by this season. I spent a lot of time dealing with and pondering the Palm Sunday texts, since I was preaching at the FCC Topeka Ecumenical service on Palm Sunday.
This service has been going on for 52 years as of this past Sunday. My sermon title was “Jesus is here, now what?” Our Jewish siblings in faith did not know what to expect or how to react to Jesus. They struggled to understand His message of love.
The realization that we are still doing this today took a moment of pause and realization. But there is truth in it, Jesus shows up in ways we struggle to understand, with messages we are still challenged by today.
How and where did Jesus show up for you this Lenten and Easter season? Where did Jesus show up that you did not expect? We have a lot to be grateful for, not the least of which is that God continues to reveal God’s self to us at the rate we can manage!
I am entering a season of extensive travel; I will be out of town from April 15 until April 28. I will not be able to attend our clergy clusters this month because I will be at the general board meeting. I pray for each of you and the congregations you serve every day. I hope you will join me in praying for each other and Disciples around the state and country!
Blessings,
Tom
