From your Regional Moderator
The Regional Board held a special meeting on Sunday, Sept. 17, to receive the resignation of the Rev. Ken Marston. As a part of that meeting, plans for continuing the ministry of the region were discussed.
During Ken’s sabbatical, the region contracted with the Rev. Dr. David Dubovich to work part-time to help build and maintain relationships with congregations and pastors in the Central and High Plains districts.
He has served the Kansas Region as the pastor of Park Place Christian Church in Hutchinson, Kan. for the past eight years. (See David’s Bio below.)
It seemed natural to the Executive Committee and the Kansas Regional Board to invite David to continue serving the region full-time as the Acting Associate Regional Minister. David accepted the call, submitted his 60-day notice to Park Place Christian Church, and will join the Kansas Regional Staff full-time on Nov. 28.
Please pray for Park Place Christian Church as they enter this season of transition and for David as he enters this vital role that we believe God has called him to serve.

Meet Rev. Dr. David Dubovich:
The oldest of three, David grew up in a small community south of Pittsburgh, Pa. He and his wife Cindy currently live in Hutchinson. They have no children but have been foster parents for many.
His wife, Cindy, now serves as a Hospice Chaplain for Reno County Hospice as well as a part-time pastor with Stafford Christian Church, Stafford, Kan.
Outside of work, he likes to work with ceramics and painting various items. “This was one of the many hobbies my grandmother had, and she taught me various techniques to make creative items,” said David.
His other hobbies are computers, the piano and organ. He was always fascinated with computers early in his childhood years playing computer games.
He received an associate degree from ICM School of Business, Pittsburgh, Pa., before going to work for Boeing Computer Services. Then he received a bachelor’s degree from Point Park University, Pittsburgh, Pa., and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Ky. In May of 2018, he received a doctoral degree from Saint Paul School of Theology.
He attributes his call to ministry to a mission trip to Kingston, Jamaica. “The impact of the trip stirred emotions inside of me to pursue my life further to serve and help others and sensed a call to pastoral ministry,” he said.
Prior to this call, David has served as pastor of Park Place Christian Church in Hutchinson and served in numerous regional leadership positions. Prior to that, he served churches in Missouri, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Virginia.
