The last couple of years have certainly changed many plans, and our usual youth convention was no exception. The KCYF Cabinet has a plan for our youth to get together this Fall AND do a project to get ready for next summer!
High School and Middle School students are invited for a workday on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Tawakoni with a focus on cleaning up our lakefront area. We’ll clean out some areas around the shore to give us a nicer area to gather while using our canoes. Expect to clean out dead trees and brush while keeping a beautiful shaded area near the lake. This will also allow more wind to the area and give us cleaner water in our cove!
We’ll gather at 10 a.m. with lunch provided at noon, and clean up around 4 p.m., and have a light dinner before leaving at 5 p.m. We’ll have some tools, but please bring gloves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Adult sponsors are needed for each congregation coming, and they are invited to bring any extra tools, chainsaws, or trucks to help haul the brush.
For High Schoolers, we’re having a special overnight retreat starting at 7 p.m. Friday night. Fun games, campfire, and devotions are planned by the KCYF cabinet. We’re limited to the first 60 people for COVID spacing in the cabins, so register early!
Cost is $15 for Saturday or $40 for Friday and Saturday. Register at www.kansasdisciples.org by Monday, Nov. 1. For any questions, contact Travis Smith McKee at [email protected] or 816-548-9911.
