Bring your bedding, bring your tools, and come out to help get the camp ready for the summer camping season.
To the east, outside the prayer room in the new chapel at Diciples Center at Tawakoni is a large open space bounded by trees on the north, prairie grass farther east, and a grass-covered rise on the south. Within this area, Kansas Disciples Men (KDM) have accepted the challenge to create a Meditation Garden. Plans are still developing, even while the first steps to prepare the area were done by men attending the fall retreat in September. Progress will continue as time and weather permit.
Plans to date include a pergola, arbors, seating, walkways, rock garden and worship area which will be suitable for weddings. All areas will be accessible to those using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. The final design will be determined by the skills and resources available.
If you are a carpenter, stone layer, or have plants or other supplies to contribute please contact David Ports.Gifts of money will be especially helpful.
The next work sessions at camp will be March 10-12. Contact Vern Failor or Steve Martin to attend, and contact David Ports if your primary work interest is the garden. Because there is no cost for work sessions, we ask you to help us be good stewards of food by letting us know of your intent to attend.
