Stories and Transformation Abound
On Sept. 29 and Sept. 30, the Kansas Region, the Greater Kansas City Region, and the Nebraska Region gathered at Manhattan First Christian Church for the Church Narrative Project.
On Friday night, nearly 80 people gathered to listen to the stories of folks from all three regions. The stories were transforming for those who heard them. It was a powerful testimony, sharing, and listening moment for all three regional churches. What this was not, is repackaged anti-racism training.
If you missed it, you could still hear the stories on the YouTube channel of the General Church.
The Church Narrative Project is about building the capacity to have challenging conversations with each other. It is about how we, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), create and form our shared story. Or, to quote Rev. Terri Hord Owens, our General Minister and President, “It is about staying at the table together, even when we disagree.”
If you want to participate in a future Church Narrative Project event, the Great River Region will host the next gathering in Little Rock, Ark.
If you did join us in Manhattan, you will be contacted soon to see if you would be interested in further training as a facilitator. Please prayerfully consider this!
