Mark your calendars and register for the 2018 Congregational Escape and Mission Fest, Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Disciples Center at Tawakoni.
Disciples Men & Women Pre-event
Both Kansas Disciples Men’s and Women’s groups will gather Friday night at Hillside Christian Church for a taco salad bar followed by an ice cream bar. Pre-dinner music begins at 6 p.m., with the meal at 6:30.
Following dinner each group will have separate sessions for programs. KDW will elect officers and hold a memorial service for those sisters who have passed since the last regional assembly.
Cost is $8. Advance registration is required.
Admission:
Gate opens at 9 a.m. Opening worship is at 9:45 a.m. under the big tent. The day will close by 3:15 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, maximum $25 per household. Register by July 31.
Marcia McFee:
Worship Design Studio’s Marcia McFee will lead opening worship and a workshop. Renew your worship skills and connect with visitors, new members, and new Christians.
With support from Kansas Bible Chair, this will launch a 1-year partnership between Worship Design Studio and the region, to help congregations renew worship skills to reach new generations, through a subscription to the Worship Design Studio webinar service.
Mission Grants:
Mission grants will be launched! These are partnership grants—that is, grants will be awarded to congregations that develop a new mission project in partnership with another Disciples congregation, or as appropriate, a church of another tradition or another agency. A total of $5000 has been set aside for these starter grants, to make it possible to do something that you haven’t done before, to meet a need beyond your congregation. Details available at MissionFest; applications due Sept. 30.

Housing for the Christian Church in Kansas Congregational Escape and Mission Fest will be at two east Wichita hotels with convenient access to Hillside Christian Church for the Friday programs for Disciples Men and Disciples Women, and a short drive to the Disciple Center at Camp Tawakoni for the Saturday event.

Children:
This is a family-centered event. The Training Lodge will be a cooling and napping area, with child care available so that parents may attend workshops and other events. Parents are expected to take care of children for lunch. Outdoor play area is not be supervised.
