Hello Kansas Disciples!
It has been an exciting couple of months in our region. Our Co-Regional Minister went on Sabbatical and discovered God was calling him on to new things. We have called the Rev. Travis Smith McKee, our Associate Regional Minister of Transformational Ministries, and we welcome Rev. Dr. David Dubovich as our new Acting Associate Regional Minister.
Through all this, I hope you know we are here to serve this region. Our mission is to connect, equip, and support all our congregations across Kansas. Whatever you may need, we are here to help!
I had the privilege of leading the Disciples Men’s Retreat in September. I challenged the Disciples Men to live firmly into Micah 6:8. I have been dwelling deeply in the text as translated by Rev. Dr. Lisa Davison:
“The LORD has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the LORD require of you but to make justice happen,
and to love passionately as God does,
and to remember that you are God’s image in the world.”
I asked the men who gathered, “What the Holy Spirit says to your heart when you hear these words?” Read them out loud and listen to what God has to say to you today.
I know that God is still speaking to me about what this scripture means and how I am to apply it as I serve the region. As you ponder these words, I would love to hear from you about how God is speaking to you about this passage of scripture.
I continue to pray for all our congregations daily. If I or any of our staff can help you or your congregation, please do not hesitate to contact us. The staff webpage is updated, and all contact information is current. This year, The Regional Staff will focus on communication, connection, and caring for the Disciples in this region.
Peace, Tom
Regional Minister and President
