Reconciliation Grant Application

Half of the Reconciliation Special offering, received September-October, stays in Kansas to fund projects that address racism and/or poverty in our community. Special consideration is given to projects that address the issue of racism.

Grant applications must be received on or before March 31 to be considered.

Monies from the Fall Reconciliation Offering are distributed early in January the following year.

PEOPLE, PROJECT, and PROGRAM MATTERS: Briefly describe your program, goals, and plans to accomplish these goals. Why is your project needed? Name any similar projects in your community and describe the overlap or duplication.
Describe how does your project serve people both on a short-term basis and how it helps people make a systemic change in their lives improving their capacity to meet their own needs?
In what ways does your program address the root causes of racism and/or poverty (the stated purpose for funds raised through the Reconciliation Offering)?
How many volunteers are involved, including members of local Disciples congregations?
How is your program evaluated—how often, by whom, and by what criteria?
Give names and demographics of your policy-making group, including age range, gender, ethnicity, and any other characteristic that is meaningful to your project:
MONEY MATTERS: In broad categories, outline your budget. Indicate numbers of paid staff, personnel costs, utilities and office expense, program expenses, and income sources including in-kind support.
Specifically, how will Reconciliation funds will be used?
Will you receive funds from other Disciples sources (direct gifts from church members, congregational budget, grants from other congregations or from programs other than Reconciliation)? If so, name those sources and amounts:
If your project is ongoing, how do you expect to finance future efforts? Decisions about Reconciliation grants are new each year; previous funding does not guarantee future funding.
If the requesting organization is affiliated with Disciples of Christ, describe your current and historic (last 5 years) support for the Reconciliation Special Day Offering and the Disciples Mission Fund.

This may include brochures, budgets, website links, photos to be used in publication, and other interpretive materials.

However, committee members are volunteers with many demands on their time. The Committee appreciates your brevity; a mass of materials will not increase your grant amount.

Typically, grant requests exceed available funds and the committee makes difficult decisions.
