Dear Friends,
In a few days, we will celebrate the 4th of July. Independence Day – when we will celebrate the birth of our country. The word for that we hear thrown about these days is “freedom.” What a great word. When we are growing up “freedom” brings to mind the idea that we get to do what we want, when we want. This idea often follows us to adulthood. Friends, freedom is so much greater than that.
If we embrace the true gift of freedom, then we are to realize it is not so much what we are freed from as to what we are freed for. Being free comes with great responsibility and great opportunity. So, I am sure that each of you will take the time during your community parade, fireworks, looking at all of the flags displayed within your communities, to stop and thank God that we are free.
Ask yourself what this means for you and how God can use you to bring the Light into this world. Pray for those who are not free to live, to love and be who God created them to be. Look for ways to help. Freedom is one of those gifts.
Blessed to share the journey,
Pastor David
