On Saturday, Jan. 29, elders from the Christian Churches in Everest, Horton, Hiawatha, and Falls City, Neb., gathered at Hiawatha First Christian Church for a special morning of Elders Training, followed by a soup and sandwich lunch prepared by the host church.
“I am very big on getting churches to work with each other,” said Hiawatha pastor Ron Stair. “My hope is that this article inspires them to get together with neighboring churches to do things. The Elders from the four churches at our training expressed a desire to get together for other things – even just a social.”
The topics covered were: Taking Communion to shut-ins
and Nursing Homes, The Elders Shepherding Program, and a discussion of How to Make Elders Meetings Relevant. Everyone felt that the training was useful and expressed a desire to continue to get together for events and times of fellowship.
