From Goodland First Christian Church
1. End of life (left):
The diseased and dying tree located at the south end of the church building, was in danger of falling. Goodland First CC members, Kenny Griffith, Kenny Grieve, and Jake Meier cut the tree down, leaving about a five-foot stump. Some of the logs became firewood from which others shared in its warmth.
2. The story told and revealed (right):
As Kenny Griffith and Kenny Grieve looked at the stump, they thought someone might be able to carve it into something. They decided upon a chalice, but they wanted to keep it a secret. There was much curiosity in the congregation and community as the leftover stump was taking on a shape of its own.
3. Beauty revealed (left):
Finally on March 1, with much anticipation the elders gathered, the story was told by the co-creators Kenny Grieve and Kenny Griffith. Dedicated to the glory of God and in honor of Ron Vignery, it was unveiled.
4. The life which is to come (right):
Pastor Doug Amend and the elders encircled it with prayer, asking that all may be blessed by its presence! The chalice is currently being stained and sealed.
