Disciples General Minister/President Terri Hord Owens, and President of the Disciples of Christ Historical Society, Dr. Rick Lowery will launch the Disciples History Podcast with the inaugural episode in the next couple of weeks.
The podcast will be available in both audio and video formats and will focus on issues in Disciples and broader Stone-Campbell Movement history. The plan is to offer the podcasts on a monthly or perhaps more frequent basis as interviews are completed.
The podcasts, about 35-45 minutes on average, can be used both for personal edification and as a resource for Sunday School classes and other church discussion groups.
The topics this Fall and Winter will be geared toward the Kirkpatrick Academic Conference at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Okla., March 18-19, 2022: “Systemic Racism, Antiracism, and ‘Reconciliation’ In Our Shared History and Tradition.”
Podcasts will include conversations with scholars and church leaders from all three major “streams” of the Stone-Campbell Movement who will lead the conference. The event will be open to the public and available for attendance both in-person and via live stream.
The Disciples History Society will post registration information about the conference on their website and Instagram account. They will also provide information about how to join by live stream.
