Rev. Dr. Lisa Davison, the Johnnie Eargle Cadieux Professor of Hebrew Bible at Phillips Theological Seminary, translated Micah 6:8 a little differently than we have read before. Let these words touch your heart.
“The LORD has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to make justice happen, and to love passionately as God does, and to remember that you are God’s image in the world.”
These words from the Hebrew Bible prophet Micah tell us what God requires of us as believers and what is good or how we are to live. We are to love passionately as God does and live as God’s image in the world today!
But more than just those two things, we are also to make justice happen! It is not enough to love; God is calling us to action! God is calling us to BE God’s image in the world; this is a verb! A word of action, and that means we must be doing something!
So, my question for the South-Central District today is this: How are you being God’s image in the world today? How are you making justice happen today?
