Church. What came to mind when you read the word “church”? An image of a building? An experience you have had? If someone asked you to describe your church, what would you say? Better yet, if you could describe the church of your heart’s desire, what would you say? What is the story you would tell?
This is what the Church Narrative Project is all about. Through a series of events held all around the country, the Church Narrative Project is an invitation to join in on a conversation about who we are and who we want to be as Church. It is a time to gather and hear some of the stories our friends, neighbors and brothers and sisters of faith tell about our “church”. It is about exploring our differing understanding of who we are and want to be. And it is about discovering a fresh, common vision of who we are and how to tell our story to others.
For us in Kansas, the gathering we are inviting you to attend, will take place the Friday and Saturday of September 29-30, 2023. It will take place at the First Christian Church in Manhattan, Kansas. We will be joined by our brothers and sisters from the Christian Church in Nebraska and the Christian Church in Greater Kansas City. General Minister and President Terri Horde-Owens and the event will be facilitated by Dr. David Anderson Hooker. The Tri-Regional Initiative is sponsoring this gathering.
More information will be coming out soon. Make plans to join us for this important conversation.
