It’s time to reflect on the previous year and plan ahead with ALEX YEARBOOK data collection that begins in January and concludes at the end of February.
The ALEX Yearbook reporting period for 2023 data will open on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Church reports are due to your regional Business Office electronically by Thursday, Feb. 29.
Top reasons for completing the report.
- ALEX allows congregations to maintain their ability to accept tax-deductible donations via federal* non-profit 501(c)(3) status filed on your behalf by the denomination.
- ALEX compares the congregation’s annual giving and attendance history over time. It looks for trends that may indicate adjustments are needed to better meet your community’s needs.
- ALEX allows connection with other ministries that can help your congregation and point the way to new avenues of partnership.
- ALEX allows you to identify and recognize the volunteer ministries that serve your community and neighbors nearby allowing you to reflect on all that your congregation has accomplished.
- ALEX helps the church identify things that matter and work together, showing our commitment to covenantal relationships.
*NOTE: Alex reporting only covers your federal non-profit 501(c)(3) filing. All Kansas Churchs also need to file a report with the state of Kansas for state non-profit 501(c)(3) status.
Alex is a database that will be shared by the whole Church. Alex will position Disciples to have a real-time directory and picture of churchwide trends. Information in ALEX will not be sold or shared with third party vendors. ALEX is an exclusive application built only for Disciples congregations, regions, and general ministries to use.
A worksheet is available as you gather your information for the report. This year’s worksheet significantly reduces the amount of data requested to make reporting less cumbersome and improve the response rate.
Each congregation should have at least one user with the role of Congregational Reporter. An ALEX user with this role must submit the annual ALEX Yearbook Report electronically. Paper worksheets will not be accepted. Regional staff cannot enter church data.
Thank you for your partnership as we prepare for this year-end task.
