For ministers to have standing with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kansas, whether ordained or licensed, they are required to have completed a “Boundaries Training” seminar at least once every three (3) years. Opportunities for such training are offered by the Clergy Care Ministry of the Christian Church (DOC) in Kansas on an annual basis. If a minister is unable to attend the scheduled event by the region, they can fulfill this requirement by either taking a similar course through the Missouri School of Religion or through a program offered by other denominational judicatories provided they check with Ken Marston, Associate Regional Minister, who is assigned to consult with the Clergy Care Ministry Team on such matters. While this training is geared towards ministers, elders and deacons and other congregational leaders are welcomed to attend these events also.
This year, Todd Adams from the Office of the General Minister and President will provide the training on the topic of financial ethics for pastors. On Sunday afternoon he will provide a parallel seminar for financial leaders in the congregation: treasurers, board members, trustees, and anyone else who is interested in sound financial practices in the congregation. This seminar will be at First Christian Church in McPherson, August 29. Register here: Treasurer Seminar Registration Form 2010
